Thank you for making this article. Using Visual Studio 2012 + Update 4 + Compact 2013 Update 5, I do not see a Sysgen command in the solution explorer for BSPs.
I'm only working with the default built-in CEPC BSP for testing at the moment, perhaps it is BSP dependent? I have similar options for the GSeries BSP. Here is a screenshot http://imgur.com/LPX5IEu

For the sake of discussion, this is what the first few lines of the BSP build look like:
